Glaucous Gull

In a thin winter for Glaucous Gulls it was good to see this one yesterday 200 metres from home by the causeway between Grimsay and Gearradubh. Like the other gulls there, it was taking advantage of the sheep feed being provided twice a day.

Dead whale on Baleshare beach

Yesterday this whale was on the ashore at Baleshare. I suspect it might have been there for a while.
Does anyone have an idea what species it might be? Pilot Whale was my uneducated guess....
Plenty of gulls feeding on it.

I had a fairly good look around east North Uist on Saturday and only found 1 Whooper Swan on Loch an Duin by the Lochportain turn along with 18 on Loch Brushda on Berneray. 1W Glaucous Gull on Baleshare yesterday and a single Brent Goose was with some Greylag on the Gerenish Ranges today.
