Uploading images to your posts

Post by Curracag Admin » 24 Mar 2012, 17:15

As many people here in the Outer Hebrides have slow or unreliable broadband connections or are still using a dial-up connection we would much prefer it if you did not post large images to the forum. We have set the maximum file size to 900kb

Note: New Users (those who have posted less than 6 times) are not able to upload images or files. Curracag Members are able to upload photos immediately on registering for the forum.

Our preferred method is to link to one of your images already hosted on the web for instance on Flickr or Photobucket

Please only upload photos that you hold the copyright for.

Adding an image that is hosted on Photobucket:-
  • Navigate to your Photobucket Album
Hover the mouse over the image you wish to share, you will see "IMG code" at the bottom of the list
Click the code there and it will be copied to the clipboard.
Paste the code into your post (right click your mouse and select Paste)
"Preview" your post to make sure the image looks as you want it to
    Finish your post and "Submit"
Adding an image that is hosted on Flickr:-
  • Find the image you require in your Flickr account
Click the down arrow by "Share"
    Choose BBCode not HTML
Copy the code that is generated
Paste the code into your post

Adding an image from your own computer:-
  • Working in the post you want the image to appear, scroll down the page
    Choose the "Upload attachment" tab
    Browse for your image
    Click "Add the file"
When the file has uploaded you need to choose "Place inline" this will add a line of code to your post. You can type any text in either before or after the code.
Note: If you upload an image greater than 1MB from your own computer a link to the image will be shown rather than the image itself.

For help with re-sizing your images so that they are suitable for presentation on the web see this post: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25
