Barra firecrest

Post by Bruce » 28 Oct 2015, 20:20

There was a male firecrest in the bushes on the south side of the football pitch at Castlebay today. It was showing at close quarters and occasionally giving bursts of song. There were 2 yellow-browed warblers in the same area. Also on Barra today 10+ blackcaps, 7 chiffchaffs, a late willow warbler, 2 bramblings and a woodcock. Yesterday a flock of 7 jackdaws were present around Brevig during the late afternoon, 4 tree sparrows were at Eoligarry, a Siberian chiffchaff at Nasg and 108 whooper swans flew south over the island in the first two hours of daylight.
