Iceland Gulls on North Uist recently

A quiet year for 'white-winged' gulls on North Uist. I've only heard about the occasional first-winter Iceland although last week Jamie saw at least two around the fish-dump near Kyles-paible. Photo attached of an adult that was pecking around in the road and later at a dead seal at Hougharry yesterday.

Whilst talking about Iceland Gulls, I thought I should mention that there is a leucistic Common Gull on Borve machair, Benbecula. It looks a good candidate for Iceland Gull at first glance, but a closer look reveals that it has one or two black spots on the primary tips. It is also Common Gull size.

Forgot to mention yesterday that Ian and I had Iceland Gull at Lochmaddy, near the ferry terminal.
