Sunning Blackbirds

Post by BrianR » 19 Jul 2016, 20:02

Recently Blackbirds in our garden at Carinish have taken time out from raiding the blackcurrant bushes to enjoying the sunshine. On several occasions they have adopted the 'lateral' sunning posture as described and illustrated in the important book on the subject - The Sunning Behaviour of Birds by Dr K.E.L. Simmons. So far I've only managed to obtain a photo of a ♂ in such a pose.
