From Tony for yesterday:' a Pectoral Sandpiper was found by Vicky Anderson (RSPB) in front of the hide at Loch Stiapavat around 18.30 hours. The bird was creeping about in the long grass among the numerous Snipe and was still present when we left the hide over an hour later.'
And for today: 'the Pectoral Sandpiper was still present this morning and also a Buff-breasted Sandpiper was seen commuting between the flooded grass in front of the hide and the fields behind. The recent heavy rain has drowned the muddy area where last week’s waders were seen but even so in this newly cut area there were at least 100 Snipe, ten Ruff and 30 Black-tailed Godwits. I managed some photos of the Pectoral Sandpiper but failed with the Buff-breast due to the grass and the bird’s restless behaviour.'
