Glossy Ibis

Post by YvonneB » 27 Mar 2012, 17:26

As we were in North Uist today we thought we'd have a visit to Balranald, had a picnic lunch and a walk around Aird an Runair where we found a Wheatear (our first for the year here) and 4 Lapland Buntings which flew off before managing to get a photo of them. After a slow stroll around the headland we headed back to the car park by the visitor centre and had an unexpected find of the Glossy Ibis on the field nearby. It had originally been found by Brian Rabbitts a few days before, when we were away on the mainland and we hadn't expected to see it still around! Nice surprise :D
