The Outer Hebrides Biological Recording Group are now receiving frequent request for information/records from other biological recording groups and researchers.
If you have any records or information not previously submitted to the Outer Hebrides Biological Recording Database, please send your information to us ( and we will forward it to the interested parties. All requests are for information are vetted. Thank you - all your records are appreciated and of value.

Otters and Road Traffic Accidents
Records are required (post 2005) for a SNH sponsored study.
Data on Otters is classified as sensitive and only limited information is made publically available.

Bottlenosed Dolphins
Records are required for an investigation of bottlenose dolphin movement patterns on the west coast of Scotland, Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS)
If possible records should include: date of the sightings, time, confidence of species identification (possible, probable or definite), location (GPS coordinates, OS Grid reference, landmark), group size, presence of calves (and if so, how many), behaviour, direction, other information and photographs (any quality).

Marine Algae

Records are required for an investigation of the the stability and variability of marine coastal habitats on decadal timescale - research study Bangor University
