Post by Matt T » 18 Jun 2013, 15:47

These FREE discovery walks are jointly organised by Curracag and RSPB Machair LIFE+

Bugs (Hemiptera)
2pm, Monday 29 July
Lionacleit machair

Meet the scientists to learn about these interesting bugs, what they can tell us, the work being carried out for Machair LIFE+ and see some of the species for yourself. Followed by a gentle walk to discover what other wildlife can be found on the site. Park at Lionacleit school and walk onto the machair from there (10mins), meeting at the southern (shore) end of the machair.

Machair flora
2pm. Wednesday 31 July
RSPB Balranald

Meet the scientist carrying out some of the Machair LIFE+ ecological monitoring survey work, hear about some of the species and the rarities being found and what they can tell us. Followed by a gentle walk to explore the wider natural history of the site. Park/meet at the Balranald Visitor Centre, but please lift share where possible as it is likely to be busy with tourist visitors.

Full details in the attachment below, which you are free to print and display in your local shop, post office, bus stop etc.

The weather is dry again. The machair flora discovery event will take place at Balranald. Meet at 2pm at the RSPB visitor centre (there will be a map so any late-comers can find us). Look forward to seeing you then!
