Loch Bornish

I've been looking through some of the photographs that i took during the really cold winter of 2010/11. We'd been asked to cover a friend's WeBS count at Loch Bornish and Ardvule while he was away on the mainland - needless to say there was virtually nothing on the loch as it was really well frozen over - a single Herring Gull and a single Lapwing standing out on the ice! All the birds were congregated on the beach on the north side of the peninsula, an amazing 27 species, the most numerous being Sanderling, of which we counted 346.

The light was truly amazing that morning and it looks most unreal.

The photo below was taken at Loch Bee the day before when we did our own WeBS count

Hi Yvonne

Lovely pictures, I too love the way the light can capture the essence of a place. I took this photo on Luskentyre beach, just last week
