Egg Collectors

Post by Crex Crex » 13 May 2012, 12:41

It probably doesn't need emphasising but I think we should all be careful about the information we post, with regard to drawing attention to the devious, nefarious egg collector.

Yes indeed, you are quite right to bring this up. This is one of the reasons that we have an Admin plus two Moderators who actively check all new posts and this subject was discussed at length before setting up the new forum. We hope that people would be sensible enough not to mention exact locations of rare/sensitive species be they birds, plants or flowers.

Any posts that do contain such information will immediately be removed and the person posting it will be contacted giving the reasons why. Ultimately we do have the ability to ban users if necessary.

You might also be interested to know that the said Mathew Gonshaw from this article was first charged with offences committed on South Uist after being watched by members of the Uist Raptor Study Group.

Excellent news. Forewarned is forearmed as they say. The genuine Birder should not be too offended if approached.
