Terry Easter informs me that this is quite a common lichen. Anyway it looks rather splended on a silver birch in the small plantation at Knock-cuien.

It looks like one of the Peltigera species. Did terry give you a name for it?

Sorry Chris I've only just looked at posting again. Terry did name it and I'm pretty sure it was as you say. I will check when he is next up in a couple of weeks time.
